Wendy Thompson's childhood memories are of wading through duckweed, catching frogs, and chasing dragonflies at Carlton Lake in Oregon.   She still visits the area ─ now with a sketch pad and colored pencils,  transferring nature, in its purest form, to artboard.

     Colored pencil art exhibits a precision and exquisiteness rarely matched in other art forms.  Broad  strokes and bold colors of the brush are replaced by individual pencil strokes and subtle color gradations.  Wendy's illustrations exemplify the precision and detail found only in the colored pencil technique.

     "As a self-taught artist, I treasure this gift that I have been given.  I strive to emulate every detail, showing weather-torn edges and bug-bitten leaves, to portray that this is a beautiful world, but that it is not perfect.  I spend as much time as possible in the forests or garden, and feel quite at home in both.  I am constantly amazed that people are so enthralled and rewarded with my gift, which I can share through my art and offer to them as treasures to the heart and soul."

     Wendy's work is currently licensed with Brush Dance, Inc. of  San Rafael, California.  Her work also appears in several West Coast Galleries including  Fire's Eye Gallery, Blackwell Brothers' Fine Arts Gallery, and The Chocolate Sheep Gallery.  Wendy also teaches colored pencil art.
